My beliefs on creativity
1. It takes time.
2. Do not get frustrated.
3. Feel what you write.

1. It takes time.

I didn’t just randomly come up with these three ideas. I have had experiences which led me to my understanding of them. When writing my narrative, I found myself getting stuck on how to transition between thoughts. It took me hours, and hours, and hours to come up with a way to move between ideas fluently, and in a way that I liked.

2. Do not get frustrated.

I found myself getting very frustrated while I was writing my short story. I had no idea what was going to come next, how it was going to end, or even what characters I was going to introduce. Trying to think of how I was going to write this story was overwhelming, so overwhelming in fact, I stopped mid-sentence dropped my head on the table. I guess you could say I was pretty much done. After I jumped this hurdle, and the ideas started flowing, I found myself writing something that in the future I would be very proud of.

3. Feel what you write.

Finally, you must feel what you write! You have to be able to put passion into it. You have to be able to put things that cannot be explained with words, into words. You have to take a feeling, a place, a thing, and bring it to life through some kind of original, and beautiful idea. It does not have to be writing, or painting, It can be anything that is unique. I learned this through many failed attempts at writing poetry. It’s hard for me to chose something to write about that I am not particularly interested in. Once I found something that I liked, the ideas started pour onto the page.
